Six Arrested in Four Separate Incidents

A half dozen people were arrested this week on St. John, a Police Department press release issued Thursday indicates.

Mary C. Andrews, 42, was arrested just before 8 a.m. Tuesday and charged with assault third degree. Police said a person undergoing treatment at the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center indicated that Andrews allegedly hit her in the head with a rum bottle, choked her and punched her all over her body.

Andrews’ bail was set at $25,000 and she was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.

Three women were arrested Wednesday after police intervened into a 1:15 a.m. disturbance at Cruz Bay’s Castaways Tavern. According to the press release, the women struck the police officer.

“There was a fight. The officer came in to stop the disturbance and those people attacked him,” Police Department spokesman Melody Rames said.

Police arrested Wendy Diane Hickak, 34, and Jasmine J. Hyche, 30, both of California and Audrey Penn, 27, of St. John. Hichak and Penn were both held on a $26,500 bail and Hyche was held on a $1,000 bail.

Paula McDonagh Myles, 70, was arrested at about 2 a.m. Wednesday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said she was driving on Centerline Road when she was involved in an auto accident. She allegedly failed a field sobriety test. She was placed on a $500 bail pending further court action.

Police arrested Akil Felix Gumbs, 31, at about 3 p.m. Wednesday and charged him with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Gumbs was scheduled to appear in court on a previous charge, but allegedly did not appear. Rames had no information on the previous charge. A warrant was issued for his arrest. Police allegedly found 13 dime bags of crack cocaine in his possession.
