V.I. Good Friday Alcohol Ban in Effect

Licensing and Consumer Affairs Commissioner Wayne L. Biggs Jr. reminds all bars, restaurants and establishments that serve alcohol of their obligation to comply with the V.I. Code, which prohibits liquor from being served on Good Friday.

“Full compliance and cooperation of all establishments that serve alcohol is mandatory,” Biggs said.

Distilled liquor and “drinks prepared therewith shall not be served in public places of refreshments” between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Good Friday”

Violation will result in a fine up to $200 or imprisonment up to one year or both, according to a statement released Thursday from the department.

  1. Here we go gov’t forcing their religious views on everyone. I thought the constitution had a separation clause between church and state. This law is totally wrong.

  2. Agreed, ridiculousness. Not sure about the numbers, but, I can assure that the revenue lost is significant………..
