Mikeal Liverpool, 21, and Gerald Jackson, 23, were arrested around 3 p.m. Wednesday on drug charges by police officers on routine patrol in Contant.

The officers noticed suspicious activity near an abandoned house located close to a car wash. Liverpool and Jackson were charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, the Police Department said in a press release issued Friday.

According to the statement, officers saw two suspects inside the house when they approached. One suspect was allegedly in the act of placing marijuana into vials for individual sale.

The suspects were in possession of at least 250 grams of crack cocaine, cocaine and marijuana. A handgun was also seized. Police said Liverpool and Jackson allegedly used the abandoned house to allegedly package and sell drugs.

At the same time, police also arrested Joshua Rojas, 23, and charged him with third-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Police said Rojas allegedly threw rocks and bottles that narrowly missed the officers when they were placing the other suspects under arrest.

Bail for Liverpool and Jackson was set at $60,000 each. Bail for Rojas was set at $10,000. All three suspects were turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending their court appearances.
