Virgin Islanders United Inc. will host a V.I.U Town Hall Meeting and Job Fair in New York City, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, at Sylvia’s Restaurant in Harlem. The key note speaker of the event will be Donna Christensen, U.S.V.I Delegate to Congress, who will be speaking on the topic “The State of Jobs and the Economy within the V.I.”
Following the formal presentation there will be a job fair and networking mixer, where Virgin Islanders living in New York who are interested in returning back to the territory can learn about employment opportunities within the territory. The event is free to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Those interested in attending are asked to promptly RSVP to (212) 713-5787, as seating is limited. Attendees interested in employment opportunities are asked to come prepared to interview and have copies of their resumes on hand.
Virgin Islanders United Inc. is a non-partisan organization. As a civic organization, VIU provides the town hall meeting structure as a service to the V.I. community by providing a mechanism for V.I. leaders to communicate with the territory’s population within the tri-state area.
“We are so very pleased to have the opportunity to host this after-work town hall meeting featuring our delegate to Congress discussing the state of employment within the territory, and then at the same time also having the opportunity to provide actual tangible employment opportunities to attendees is the best of both worlds,” said Janet Parris, president of VIU. “Events like this help to illustrate the commitment we have to our homeland and its people. I hope that all Virgin Islanders within the New York and Tri-State area who are interested in returning back to the territory, attend this important event, and truly benefit from it. I want to also thank and recognize the Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen for her participation as well,” Parris said.
Virgin Islanders United Inc. is a New York-based, non-partisan, non-profit civic organization dedicated to the U.S. Virgin Islands and its people.
