Pistarckle Theater kicks of its 22st Season Celebration with its 4th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser on the wings of an angel. Ever since Medici, the arts have had to rely on support from benefactors. In the theater, they are called angels, and Pistarckle Theater’s angel has pledged $15,000 as a matching grant. So every dollar given counts as two.
Once again Frank Machover of VI Wine Wholesale has set sail for France and its renowned vineyards to personally select the finest small vineyard wines available, and he is offering them for sale at Pistarckle’s annual wine tasting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 in Tillet Garden.
This year Machover will be offering a new selection from his inventory as well as the affordably-priced favorites. Introduced will be a new red wine which perfectly matches the adage: “Wine gets better with age and age gets better with wine.”
Dr. Edward Miller will explain the medically-proven benefits of wine with his entertaining presentation. The event will include a slide show of Machover’s travels with photos and personalized commentary of the actual vineyards and vintners that make up the very affordable wines that will be sampled. In addition to a wide selection of wines, participants will enjoy perfectly matched pairings of a sumptuous selection of hors d’oeuvres and canapés.
All proceeds from the wine tasting will go toward the match, as well as 15 percent of wine purchases made on Sept. 22. Also available are special opportunity raffle tickets, which includes a mixed sample case of wines.
Call 775-7877 to RSVP with credit card: tickets are $35 each or $60 for
