The U.S. Internal Revenue Service in sponsoring a free, phone forum for tax-exempt organizations at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19. The forum, the first in the U.S.V.I., is designed for new or existing tax-exempt organizations and tax professionals as well, looking for information on:
• Applying for tax-exempt status
• Types of exempt organizations
• Benefits of tax-exempt status
• Activities that can jeopardize exempt status
• Filing requirements
“We are trying to reach out to organizations everywhere, including the Virgin Islands,” said Cheryl A. Teser, IRS coordinator of the event. “This is a great educational opportunity.”
