DPNR Celebrates COASTWEEKS With Beach Cleanup

0

The Division of Coastal Zone Management (CZM) is celebrating Coast-weeks International Coastal Cleanup, also known as COASTWEEKS, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.
COASTWEEKS is a program of The Ocean Conservancy with over 100 countries participating. Events are coordinated to remove debris from marine areas and tally items collected according to type of debris. The data collected from each beach is entered into the 2012 COASTWEEKS data.
CZM has selected Little Princess Beach on St. Croix for clean-up and is requesting the help of the community. Volunteers and students for community service are needed to help clean this beach from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. Supplies such as gloves and bags will be provided.
Those who have a group and want to participate in this program by cleaning up Little Princess Beach or any other beach, please contact Jonathan Buckney-Small, Coastal Zone Management Program coordinator, at 773-1082 ext. 2229 or [email protected]
