Malique Smith of the St. Croix Track Club continues to establish his reputation as a versatile runner and the top youth in the Virgin Islands. Smith, a 15-year-old sophomore at the St. Croix Educational Complex High School, dominated the 1500m St. Croix Metric Mile Road Race on the Upper Love, St.Croix point-to-point course with a winning time of 4 minutes 28 seconds. Rodney Griffin 14, Smith’s SCTC/ECSH teammate was second in the race with a time of 4:52; Malik DeIris 15 of Freewill Baptist School was third in 5:02; Eligah DeIris 14 of FWBS was fourth in 5:02; Akelem Romain 16 of FWBS was fifth in 5:07.
