Registration for 2013 spring semester classes at the Raphael O. Wheatley Skill Center will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the V.I. Department of Education. Interested persons are invited to register between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday through Friday for courses in the culinary arts, cosmetology (day and evening), computer applications (day and evening) or for the new entrepreneurship class. Classes are held in the day from 8:10 a.m. to 3:10 p.m., and in the evening from 6-8:30 p.m. The deadline to register is Thursday, Jan. 31. Classes will begin on Monday, Feb. 4.
The tuition fee is $250 for the semester, payable by money order or bank draft. Textbook and supplies costs are not included in the tuition fee.
Each student must meet all the following requirements:
• Complete an application form;
• Provide a copy of a valid ID with a recent picture (passport, driver’s license, etc.);
• Payment must be made by Money order/bank draft only payable to the Government of the Virgin Islands;
• Proof of medical insurance (provide copy of insurance card);
• Registration fee of $33 includes $17 for medical insurance if no personal coverage, $10 for school ID, and $6 for school patch to be paid separately
• Participants referred by the Department of Labor, Department of Human Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Veteran’s Affairs or the Inter-island Coalition must bring the official documentation from the referring agency;
• Must be 18 years of age or older and have obtained a high school diploma/GED;
• Submit a copy of a high school diploma/GED/transcript (if coming from another institution).
