A 46-year-old man was shot several times early Monday and is being treated at the Roy L. Schneider Regional Medical Center, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, officers were notified of the shooting at about 12:30 a.m. by 911 dispatchers. Traveling to a private residence in Estate Anna Retreat, they talked to a relative of the victim who told police they heard several gunshots and notified 911.

The caller said while talking to dispatchers she heard a voice asking for help. When she opened her door she saw the injured man. An ambulance was sent to the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital.

Police officers, including detectives and forensic technicians processed the scene, collected evidence and spoke to possible witnesses.
