Akem Parsons died at the age of 20 in Florida.
He is survived by his parents: Janice E. Parsons and Roger Malone; stepfather, Louis Lake; grandparents: May Vaughn, Dorothy Malone, Alphonso Vaughn and Ludence Malone; brothers: Kevin, Kareem and K’Moi Lake; sisters: Renis, Paris and Paige Malone; stepsisters: Kimberly and Krystal Lake; aunts: Jasmine, Joyce and Jeriline Vaughn, Shirley Romaine, Lynette and Aloma Heinemann, Carmen and Jacquelyn Figueroa, Brenda and Darlene Smith, and Rosemary Nesbitt; and uncles: Jermaine Turnbull, Joel, Julian and Joel Vaughn, Ray and Rex Malone, George Figueroa, Manuel Nisbitt, Travis Foey and Ken Claman.
He is also survived by cousins: Jahnicqua, Jahquan and Jahnique Francis, Llyeah Roberts, Shamika Fleming, Dequan Blow, Tyra Stewart, Keoneaem, Marvel, Monica and Milika Nesbitt, Dyese and Ssanyu Turnbull, Shequann McCoy, Shariq Davis, Francis Balt, Ja’quele, Jakayla, Joakem and J’Laun Vaughn, J’Briyan Vaughn, Delonya Figueroa, Abbyssinia Hodge, T’Keyah Trotman and Kenalie Attidore; close friends: Tahlifah Pemberton, Jahnicqua Francis, Shamika Fleming and Dyese Turnbull; other families: the Petersen family, the Malone family, the Allen family and the Parsons family; as well as many other family and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 2.
