The Humane Society’s annual Valentine Ball is almost here and it is requesting donations for the silent raffle and silent auction. Think about what you or your business could donate to this famous event. The best way to donate an item or gift certificate is to bring it to the Humane Society’s front desk. For those of you who don’t already know about the annual Valentine’s Ball, it is the biggest, fanciest, most anticipated fundraiser of each year. Planning goes on all year for this main event. The theme for this year’s ball is “Flying Down to Rio” held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Antilles School’s Mark C. Marin Building. Cocktails will begin at 6:30 p.m., and a fantastic gourmet dinner will be served at 8 p.m. There will be entertainment throughout the evening.
The ball raises much needed funds for daily shelter operations including food, life-saving medication, staff salaries and other necessities to keep the shelter running and provide the residents with the best care. The new campus can house many more animals, and between the ones staying at the campus and in foster care the Humane Society is currently responsible for over 300 animals. While it is saving more lives than ever before, this comes with increased operating costs and it cannot continue this work without the public’s support.
