Marlon P. Waldrop, the director of Veterans Benefits from Puerto Rico, will visit the Virgin Islands during the week of March 11-15. She will visit St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John to meet with V.I. veterans and local government officials to discuss benefits issues, according to a press release issued Friday by Office of Veterans Affairs.
Acting Director Harry Daniel said that Waldrop oversees all benefits programs such as pension and compensations, educational issues, home loan programs, and vocational rehabilitation and employment.
Daniel is advising all veterans to be aware of their benefits and to make sure they are utilizing the various available programs.
Waldrop’s schedule while in the territory is as follows:
• Monday March 11: from 6:30-8: 30 p.m. there will be a Meet and Greet Veterans at the St. John Administrator’s Office
• Tuesday March 12, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. there will be meeting at the American Legion Hall Post 90 in Sub Base, St. Thomas
• Thursday March 14, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. there will be a meeting at Myron Danielson Post 85 in Christiansted, St. Croix
Daniel said, “A benefits counselor visits the Virgin Islands once a month and during those visits, sees an average of 35 veterans per day in both districts. The visit from Ms. Waldrop will provide additional support and yet another avenue to raise awareness on the benefits available to V.I. veterans.”
Daniel is asking all veterans to attend these important meetings to learn more about benefits that can assist them no matter how long they have been out of the military.
