Mildred Sarah-Ann Miller Tonge And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
It is with profound sadness, we announce the death of Mrs. Mildred Sarah-Ann Miller Tonge, better known as “Mills” or “Mother Tonge,” of Bethesda Village, who died on March 10 at the age of 81.
There will be a viewing held at 5 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 4. Interment will be in Bethesda Community Burial Ground, Bethesda Village, Antigua.
She leaves to mourn her children: Yvette Tonge in St. Thomas, Vanessa Tonge of Bethesda, Jasmine Tonge-Watson in Tortola, Roslyn Tonge, Sharon Tonge-Browne, Vedora Kennedy and Vernon Tonge of Bethesda, Morvette Tonge-Joseph in Canada, Laurie-Anne Tonge of Behesda, Alvin Charles Tonge in the Bahamas; and adopted daughter, Joycelyn John of Tortola.
She was the stepmother of Leroy “Billy” Tonge of Liberta, Loretta Tonge of Bethesda and Charles Tonge of St. Thomas.
She was the grandmother of Shemilita Joseph and Shereka Whyte in Antigua, Daston Anthony and Shawn Samuel in St. Thomas, Latoya Martin, Joycelyn Son-Harris, Carol-Ann James-Mitchell, Oriel, Travis, Avalon and Kanijah in New York, Jamoi Watson in Tortola, Ephron, Netiecha, Shunya, Bevon, Nurse Ashanti Browne-Phillip, Chunsae, Arion, Natasha, Sadiel, Tahyane, Kevon, Jonicia, Azalia, Nandi and Aleyah in Antigua, Berlinette, Leron, Tiffany, Ishawn and Raymond in Antigua, Quadash, Kiro and Kordell Charles in the Bahamas, Jernaye and Jhaidyn in Canada, and the late Andre Martin of Bethesda.
She was the great-grandmother of Dijonya, Claireka, Rolston Jr., Shun-nae, Shorna, Andrenae, Sha-mar, Zaron, Bently, Andre Jr. Daishontae and Brhea – all in Antigua, and Carseana Carlos and Liam Harris in the U.S.A.
She was the sister of Keith Miller of Kentish Road, Charles Lewis in Antigua and Blondina Chambers in the U.S.A., the late Uriah Hodge of St. Croix, Vincent “Sony Boy” Miller of Jennings, Isaiah Miller of Grays Farm, Marjorie Miller Daley, Rosalie and Isalyn Miller of St. Thomas, Claribell Appleton of Parham and Glendora Miller of Freeman’s Village.
She was the sister-in-law of Kathleen Miller of Jennings, Maxine Miller of Kentish Road and James Daley of St. Thomas.
