The Peter’s Rest bin site on St. Croix will be closed effective on Tuesday, April 30. All residents are asked to use the recently open Peter’s Rest Convenience Center, which is located adjacent to the Peter’s Rest bin site, according to a press release issued on Tuesday by the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA).
The convenience center is a manned facility with operating hours and restrictions regarding what items can and cannot be accepted, and it is open seven days per week. Residents are asked to modify their disposal schedules to adhere to the hours of operations or to use one of the other public bin sites located at Cotton Valley, Mon Bijou or Concordia. They are asked to refrain from illegal dumping near or around the facility.
The operating hours of the convenience center are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays and from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. The facility is managed and operated by Bates Trucking and Trash Removal LLC.
The Peter’s Rest Convenience Center accepts the following items:
Area 1: Household waste only
Area 2: Green or Yard Waste, Scrap Metal and Appliances, Bulk Waste (furniture) and Aluminum or Steel Cans
Area 3: Electronic Devices and Fluorescent bulbs
Business and commercial waste will not be accepted at the Peter’s Rest Convenience Center and must be disposed of at the St. Croix Transfer Station. Businesses are reminded to use a licensed and permitted waste hauler to dispose of their waste properly.
