Only a Few Takers for Tourism’s Customer Service Workshops

No one on St. John and only a few people on St. Thomas signed up for the Tourism Department’s customer service workshops, so the department is reminding people of their importance.

“The workshops are very motivational and will inspire attendees to consistently go above and beyond to satisfy their customers,” said Tourism Department spokesman Allegra Kean Moorehead. “We encourage anyone who works with the public to sign up.”

Moorehead said that in today’s global marketplace, it’s important for Virgin Islanders to keep pace with world class service standards.

“Travelers have many choices but we want to make sure they choose the U.S. Virgin Islands over and over again – not just for the natural beauty here, but also because of our welcoming hospitality,” she said.

On St. Thomas, the workshop is scheduled Thursday at the V.I. Port Authority conference room. Airport personnel will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

The workshop moves Friday to the University of the Virgin Islands Administrative and Conference Center on St. Thomas, where customer contact employees will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Managers and supervisors are scheduled from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with taxi operators meeting from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

On St. John, customer contact employees will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Julius E. Sprauve School auditorium.

Conducted by professional service trainer Bryan Williams, the workshops are part of National Tourism Week, which began Saturday with cleanups on all three islands.

The workshops started Tuesday and continue Wednesday on St. Croix.
