Police on St. Thomas have issued a stateside Amber Alert for 9-year-old Jermaine Henderson. The minor was last seen at the Cyril E. King International Airport with his maternal grandmother boarding a flight to Florida.
A report of the missing child was made to police by his father on May 3 who stated that he has had custody of his son for more than a year. He told police he allowed the maternal grandmother to spend time with the child and stay overnight with her on April 30. He said he was informed by a third party that his son was seen at the airport boarding a flight with his grandmother
Jermaine Henderson is 4 foot tall and weighs 90 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He has a brown complexion. A photo of Henderson can be viewed on the VIPD website at vipd.gov.vi
Can anyone shed light into the seeming incompetence of the VIPD to issue an Amber Alert SIX days after a child has potentially been abducted, and taken off the island??? How is this possible that basically NOTHING WAS DONE to locate the child?? The excuse that they were looking for the grandmother on island – after learning she had taken the boy to the States – is completely unacceptable. That the police could not determine which plane the grandmother and child boarded, and NOT KNOW WHERE THE PLANE WAS GOING?? That is what they have manifests for. That is also where US Customs and Immigration have a station for passengers leaving the island, which MUST have the destination and flight number on the Declaration!!! I believe there must also be a notarized letter from the parent/guardian allowing the child to leave a jurisdiction is also required by law. The excuse that VIPD contacted the US Amber Alert folks, seems to be a complete lie, as the Center has NO RECORD of EVER being contacted by the VIPD. So, once again, the Government of the Virgin Islands, to include Comm. Querrard, Melody Rames and others in positions of responsibility have lied to us to cover their inept, lazy a$$es. And we allow this to continue, like lambs to the slaughter, like lemmings jumping off a cliff.
This is one of our children, and nobody gives a damn where the child is, what his condition is, and who actually has the child.
INEPT, LAZY, UNINTERESTED, STUPID (not ignorant), and DISHONEST is what the VIPD can be proud of today. SHAME ON ALL INVOLVED! SHAME
a check of http://www.amberalert.gov states that there are NO ACTIVE AMBER ALERTS IN THE US VIRGIN ISLANDS, nor have there been any time recently. There is also NO RECORD of an Amber Alert ever being issued by the VIPD.
This is really disgusting. I wonder if the VIPD has even had the brains to contact the FBI, as this is interstate transportation of an abducted minor.
Just who the hell is in charge here???????

THANK YOU for issuing the AMBER Alert. It took 6 days, but it WAS issued.
However. Please issue a better photo, a photo of the grandmother and description. Was there surveillance at the Airport with stills we can use to help identify them? WHERE did they touch down in Florida?
WHY is it not listed in NCMEC??
It is so difficult to enter cases into the PHMC system when all necessary information is not released. But still, it is SO VERY necessary.
