The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation announces that the Hounds & Foxes has competed well in Puerto Rico. The Hounds & Foxes Track Club had an excellent showing in the Hershey Qualifier Track Meet in Puerto Rico and at the Copey Track Meet the following week, also in Puerto Rico.
Amani Alfred took a gold medal in the boys 80m and a silver in the 80m hurdles in a photo finish. Tyannah Lake took the bronze medal in the girls high jump 10-11 age group, she finished 6th in the 60m. JahHeal Garcia won a bronze medal in the boys ball through 6-9 age group and finished fifth in the 60m. Abyssinia Tzaddi took fifth in the girls 6-9 60m and fifth in the ball throw. Calisha Wrensford finished 8th in the 60m girls 10-11. The team also won a bicycle.
Results from the Hershey Meet: A national competition with qualifiers hosted regionally for boys and girls 9-14 years of age. According to the organizers, every Hershey’s Track and Field Games meet offers running events, like the 50-meter dash and the 800-meter run, and field events, like the softball throw and the standing long jump. Those who work hard enough and qualify in their events get the chance to compete at the North American Final in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The trip to Hershey is totally free. Participants get to visit Hershey Park and Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction, and to tour Hershey’s state-of-the-art chocolate factory.
Nyhne Daniel of The Hounds & Foxes Track Club set a new meet record in the 200m with a time of 24.92 for the 13-14 age group. He broke the 100m record last year with a time of 12.38. This meet does not allow the athletes to wear spikes.
