Human Services Issues Public Notice Regarding MAP Reimbursement

DHS Commissioner Christopher Finch has provided a notice of intent to amend the Virgin Islands Medicaid State Plan concerning the reimbursement provided to enrolled physicians. For services provided within the Territory of the United States Virgin islands, upon approval by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) with a target effective date of Aug. 1, physicians in private practice enrolled as V.I. Medicaid Program enrolled providers will be eligible to receive reimbursement from the U.S.V.I. Medicaid program for both inpatient and outpatient services at 100 percent of the V.I. Medicare allowable rate. All such services must be authorized from the department or its agents, according to a press release issued on Saturday by the V.I. Department of Human Services
For physician services provided outside the territory, the V.I. Medicaid Program will reimburse physicians enrolled in the program for both inpatient and outpatient services at the Medicare rate in the state where the service was rendered.
A copy of this notice is available for public review at the office of the Medicaid Program at the Department of Human Services and on the DHS Web site at www.dhs.gov.vi. Comments or inquiries may be submitted in writing within 30 days to:
