Despite scouring St. John with helicopters and at least three vehicles on Thursday, officers from V.I. National Park and U.S. Customs and Border Protection working with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency found only three marijuana plants. The plants were located on St. John’s East End.

“They were very disappointed,” park enforcement chief Lloyd Morris, said Friday.

He said no one was in the area when the plants were discovered.

Morris said agents from the DEA took the plants back to St. Thomas. He said they found about 400 to 500 plants in a similar effort last week on St. Thomas. According to Morris, all the plants will be destroyed.

He said no one was arrested in connection with the discovery of the plants.

Morris said the entire operation took about five hours.
