Lieutenant Governor Commends Community for Clearing Bordeaux Dam

Lt. Gov. Gregory R. Francis has commended the community effort that resulted in the thorough clearing of the dam located in Estate Bordeaux for use by the farmers in that area. Francis visited the area on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the request of the Bordeaux farmers to view the newly-restored facility.
Francis helped to coordinate the dam clean up earlier this summer. “Cleaning the dam was truly a community effort,” he said. “The Departments of Public Works and Agriculture assisted by providing heavy equipment, and local vendors provided diesel fuel for the machinery.” According to Francis, the newly cleaned water catchment is now filled with approximately two million gallons of water as a result of the recent heavy rains.
The lieutenant governor is committed to supporting the territory’s farmers and the agricultural industry. “Agriculture depends on the availability of sustainable resources. Water collected in this dam will provide a reliable source of clean water that the farmers can now use for their crops and livestock. The development of our agriculture industry will take a collective effort, and I am proud to have been involved in restoring this water resource for the Bordeaux farmers.”
