Detectives on St. Thomas are investigating three separate non-fatal shootings that occurred during the weekend, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police said the shootings were not related to each other and in all three cases the victims, all male, were treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

At about 10:10 p.m. Sunday police spoke to a 22-year-old man who said he had been outside building 15 in Tutu High Rise talking on his cell phone when he saw a vehicle pass by and heard several shots being fired. He began to run and realized he had been shot in his left leg.

The victim did not have a description of the vehicle and said he had no idea why anyone would want to shoot at him.

He was taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

At about 3:30 p.m. Saturday a man told police he was walking south on Nye Tvaer Gade toward Veterans Drive when he heard tires screeching and saw a man jump out of a vehicle. The man began punching the victim in the face.

During the fight the suspect pulled a handgun from his waist and hit the victim in his head. The suspect then fired several shots at the victim, who was struck in his upper left thigh.

The victim ran from the area and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The victim said he could not describe the vehicle that stopped or the person who assaulted him.

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a gunshot victim in Estate Mariendahl. The victim told police he tried to sell a DVD player to several people in the area of the Lantern Laundromat and got into a physical altercation with one of the individuals.

The 27-year-old victim said during the altercation the suspect reached for his waist and pulled out a handgun and shot at him. The victim began to run and another man fired shots at him.

The victim was struck in lower right leg and his left leg.

These three cases are being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
