A struggle at a Havensight restaurant Saturday resulted in the arrest of 41-year-old Bambula Ross early Saturday morning, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Ross was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery after he was identified as one of the persons who threatened and took a cell phone from a man in the Havensite establishment..

According to police, the incident took place at 12:10 a.m. Saturday. The victim told police he was talking on his cell phone inside the Havensight pub when two men approached him, took his cell phone and threatened him by poking him with a sharp object in his side. The suspects allegedly told the victim if he paid them $60 he could have his cell phone back. The victim said he only had $20. The suspects refused. The victim then told the suspects he would get the money from an ATM.

The victim told officers that he and the suspects left the restaurant, but when they got outside the suspect dropped the phone. The victim and suspects struggled for the phone and several concerned citizens, observing the scuffle, called 911.

The police arrived within minutes and apprehended one suspect, who was later identified as Ross, who lives in the Oswald Harris Court housing community.

Ross was arrested at about 12:30 p.m. and held on a $75,000 bail pending his court appearance. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau continue to investigate this case.
