St. Thomas Escapee Arrested

The U.S. Marshals Service re-arrested Raheem "Shano" Creque, 36, of St. Thomas on Friday after Creque escaped custody and went on the lam for a month, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

On Jan 23, Creque escaped from the St. Thomas V.I. Bureau of Corrections at the Alexander Farrelly Justice complex. He had been arrested for sex crimes involving minors. He was arrested Friday on an outstanding federal warrant.

After his capture, Creque appeared before District Court Magistrate Judge Ruth Miller, who scheduled his detention and preliminary hearing for March 3.

Homeland Security arrested Creque Jan. 21 and charged him with enticing and coercing a minor to engage in sexual activity through use of a facility of interstate commerce. After his Jan. 22 detention hearing, Magistrate Judge Miller ordered Creque held without bail and remanded him to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. Jan. 23, Creque escaped from the Alexander A. Farrelly Criminal Justice Complex. On Jan. 24, District Court Judge Curtis Gomez issued an arrest warrant for Creque.

Creque was arrested around 11 a.m. Friday thanks to information from the public, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
