The last two remaining places for the St. Thomas Region’s ‘Big Four’ were decided on Sunday when the New Vibes blanked the Togetherness 5-0 for 2nd place and the Raymix edged the UWS 1-0 for 4th place. In the last game at the Lionel Roberts Stadium for the 2013-2014 league, the New Vibes had little trouble in handing the Togetherness their 20th loss, bringing their disappointing season to an end. The New Vibes lead 2-0 at the half on two Marlon Wilton goals. In the second half, the New Vibes dominance continued as Wilton completed his hat trick and Idris Brice added a brace. The New Vibes won 2nd place with 42 points over the Haitian Victory (39) with a game in hand.
In the earlier match, the Raymix edged the UWS 1-0 in a tightly contested affair. The Raymix’s goal came midway in the first half when Alanje Rogers converted a penalty. The UWS played the final eight minutes of the game with 10 men as Zachary Nelthropp was red carded after receiving his second yellow card. At the end of the match, the UWS’ Christopher Mitchell was also red carded for statements he made to the officials. The Raymix finished with 33 points while the UWS has 29 with one game in hand. The St. Thomas Region will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, in the St. Thomas office to discuss the remaining leagues matches, the ‘Big Four’ and other matters.
