A man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in the Estate Richmond area and police are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying anyone involved in the crime.
The V.I. Police Department was notified of the shooting by 911 Emergency Dispatch minutes after 1 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene – a residential block between the David H. Jackson Terrace and the abandoned Ralph de Chabert housing community – they found the unresponsive body of a man who had been shot at least once.
Police said the victim was in his mid to late 20s or early 30s. They declined to identify the victim until his next of kin can be notified. Emergency medical technicians arriving at the scene could not detect any vital signs and the victim was later transported to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police SWAT teams canvassed the area, including the abandoned apartments, for the suspect or suspects, but were not successful.
Police are seeking the community’s assistance to solve this crime. Anyone with information can call detectives at 1-340-712-6077 or 1-340-712-6037, the 911 emergency center or the anonymous tip service, Crimes Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
