The family of Kenneth "KC" Christopher is deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing on March 8.
Kenneth was a notable photographer who captured many aspects of life in the Virgin Islands behind the lens of his camera. His work serves as visual history that embodies the essence of life in the United States Virgin Islands.
“KC” held numerous jobs during his career. He worked for the Home Journal, The Virgin Islands Daily News, the St. Croix Avis, Bureau of Corrections and the Legislature of the United States Virgin Islands in the Public Affairs Division. Additionally, he owned and operated The Picture Place.
In Kenneth’s willingness to serve the community and share his talent and expertise, he was a volunteer and photographer for the U.S.V.I. Superior Court Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra, and he assisted students in learning the art of photography. He was also a member of Rotary Club of St. Croix West, District No. 7020.
Kenneth “KC” Christopher leaves to mourn his brothers: Leslie and Carl Christopher; sister, Lucia Christopher; sons: Kenneth A. Christopher, Kaj A. Christopher, Jonathan Christopher and Okori Christopher; daughter, Allegra Christopher; stepsons: Roy, Donovan and Tariq Pemberton; stepdaughter, Khema Loving; daughters-in-law: Malayisha Rabsatt-Christopher, Ann Gordon Christopher, Trang Vuong Christopher and Marilou Panganiban Christopher; and grandchildren: JaMarcus Christopher, Leah Loving, Kiara R. Christopher, Nyicia George, Michael Anthony George II, Kiandra J. Christopher, LaRue C. Christopher, Koen J. Christopher, Lyniece J. Christopher, Lilah Loving-Lee and Leslie Marie Christopher.
He is also survived by great-grandchildren: Jade Christopher and Justice Christopher; aunts: Mirian Christopher, Elaine Freeman and Edna Freeman Hodge; uncle, Sydney Freeman; nieces: Delta Wilson Thomas, Deshone Duggins Hedrington, Yvonne A. Christopher, and Jahkala and Jada Christopher; nephews: Dexter D. Wilson, Delvin D. Duggins Sr., Lester L. Vanterpool, Cohawn Christopher and Jahquan Christopher; the Freeman and Christopher families from the British Virgin Islands, clients, colleagues, fellow photographers, his beloved Lagoon Swimming Crew and his extended family of friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Virgin Islands Legislature building on St. Croix at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 24. The viewing will be at Christ Church Methodist on St. Thomas from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Western Cemetery No. 1.
