My Brother’s Workshop has chosen Jenny Hawkes to be the new executive director. She brings years of experience planning events and fundraisers, working with not-for-profit organizations and juggling family, work and volunteer activities to her new job.
Originally from a mountain town in the Southern Rockies of Northern New Mexico, where she was the PTA president, school board president, planning and zoning commission member and a town council member. Professionally, she has owned and operated a real estate/property management company. She moved, along with her husband and two children, to St. Thomas in 2012. Immediately after moving to the island, Since then, she has been an accounts manager for Clean Fuels Clearinghouse, a state side company in the renewable fuel industry.
At her first Joseph Sibilly Elementary PTA meeting, Hawkes became the vice president of the association. She is also very involved with the St. Thomas Reformed Church, and she and her husband host a gathering of young adults for Christian fellowship at their home on Thursday nights.
“I feel privileged to be working for an organization dedicated to changing the lives and offering hope to young people who want to change their lives,” she said, “I am looking forward to helping My Brother’s Workshop be as effective as possible in this community.”
Hawkes replaces Christina Luton, who has been the executive director for the past three years. Luton will remain on the board of My Brother’s Workshop, staying committed to the organization as a volunteer. “I am happy to see My Brother’s Workshop step into a new season and for the organization to continue to grow, allowing it to support many more in our community. I will work side by side with Jenny to assist in the transition and ensure she has all the tools she needs to move us forward.”
