Man Found Shot to Death in Vehicle

An unidentified man was found shot to death inside a running car early Thursday morning in the vicinity of Gas Works in Bovoni, the V.I. Police Department said.

According to the report, police were alerted to the shooting by 911 at 12:33 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene they found a tan, four-door Jeep Cherokee with its engine running and lights on. Inside the vehicle, officers saw an unresponsive man in the driver’s seat.

The man appeared to have sustained several gunshot wounds. It was the eighth homicide on St. Thomas since the first of the year, the 14th in the territory.

Police said the man was between 38 and 44 years of age with a brown complexion, about 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 8 inches tall, with no hair on his head. He was dressed in a black T-shirt with a white design, short black stonewashed jeans and white sneakers.

Police said the victim appeared to have been shot several times while he was inside the vehicle. Emergency medical technicians on the scene said the victim had no vital signs.

As of Thursday afternoon the name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
