Damaged WAPA Pole Causes Innovative Outages On St. Croix

Innovative experienced intermittent outages after a blown WAPA transformer resulted in a burned WAPA pole and damaged Innovative equipment on the island of St. Croix. This incident occurred on May 12, 2014 during the early morning hours.

“Due to a burned WAPA pole in the Estate Strawberry and Estate Baron spot areas, Innovative Fiber link cable was damaged affecting the delivery of Cable TV, Ethernet and Voice services. Innovative personnel were onsite and service has been fully restored on the same evening of the incident,” said
Innovative Vice President of Network Operations Emiel Michiels in a statement.
Businesses and areas affected included: The Innovative Business Center, Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital Hovensa, WSVI- TV8, broadcast video for Mon Bijou and Frederiksted and local Hybrid Fiber Coaxial Cable in Estate Strawberry and Sunny Isle.
