Montessori Volts Win President’s Cup Elementary Tournament

Montessori team with the championship trophyThe Montessori Volts came from one goal down to defeat the FreeWill School in the finals of the U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Association (USVISA) President’s Cup Elementary Tournament on Saturday, May 24, at the UVI Grounds. The Montessori-St. Thomas Champions earned their way to the final when they edged the St. Croix runners’ up Good Hope Country Day School (GHCDS) 2-1 in the first semi-final.
The FreeWill-St Croix Champions had an easier time when they blanked the Antilles Hurricanes-St. Thomas runners’ up 3-0. In the battle for third place, Good Hope Country Day School edged the Antilles 1-0. In the finals, FreeWill’s Athbert Williams gave them the early lead but Montessori’s Quinn Farrell equalized before the half. Second half goals by Destin Thompson and Kamden Benjamin gave the Montessori team the victory.
