George John Sumter, also known as "Geo," of Estate Herman Hill died on May 31. He was 83 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Johannes Wilem Sumter and Catherina Wilson Sumter; and brother, Louis Sumter.
He is survived by his spouse: Margaret E. Sumter; daughters: Kiesha A. Sumter, Chemine Sumter, Esther Sumter, Lovella Hooi, Cynthia Monard and Sicrid Davis; sons: Cyril Sumter, Kenneth Weigle, Rudolph Angela, George Hooi and Winston Braithwaite; grandchildren: Rachaline Wilson, Clifford Jansen, Clayton Jansen, Deren Plantijn, Derik Plantijn, Maximar Weigle, Hilmara Weigle, Naydienne Bonifacio, Charif, Aldrin Hortencia and Aldaier Hortencia; and sisters: Mildred Morgenstand, Rita Wygaarde, Luissa Sumter and Jenny Conquet.
He is also survived by brothers: Ewald Sumter, August Sumter, Max Sumter, Dirk Sumter and Teo Sumter; niece, Maria Moss Wilkinson; nephews: Jessie Moss and Joel Moss; brothers-in-law: Winston Moss and Earl Moss; sister-in-law, Daphne Whittle; special friends: Allahar family, Mae Williams, Dr. Fajzah Perry and Ile, Laverne Hodge and family, Terrence Morris, Stenntt Dariah, David Garcia, Abraham Fredricks, Myrna McSwain and Linda O’Neale; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 2 p.m. and a funeral service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at James Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at sea will follow.
