St. Thomas native Jabari Blash received national and local media attention in April after getting the bump up to Triple-A and, this week, the 24-year-old once again made headlines after hitting three homeruns in consective at-bats to help push his team to a 13-4 victory over the El Paso Chihuahuas.

National news articles called it a “breakout night” for Blash, whose Tacoma Rainiers team was trying to fight off a four-game losing streak.

“Blash hit a towering three-run homer to center field in the third inning off El Paso starter Keyvius Sampson, giving Tacoma a 5-1 lead, and he led off the fifth inning by ripping the first pitch reliever Tim Sexton threw down the left-field line for a solo homer to make it 9-2,” according to an article in the News Tribune. “Blash’s third shot was a majestic three-run smash to left field off Sexton in the sixth inning, making it 13-3.”

According to the article, Blash is the first Tacoma player to hit three homers in a game since Alex Liddi on Aug. 4, 2011, at Albequerque.

Blash is hitting .190 in 105 at-bats since his promotion from Double-A and has eight homeruns with the Rainiers.
