Daisy Nurse Carrington died on June 3 at the Herbert Grigg Home for the Aged. She was 84 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anselmo "Galento" Carrington; sisters: Adread, Bernice and Seorine Nurse; brother, Charles Nurse; and grandson, Cuthbert Roberts Jr.
She is survived by her children: Ellenmay Joyce, Jacqueline, Juno, Fitzgerald, Patmore and Valarie Roberts, Elda Green and Dale Carrington; and grandchildren: Denise, Jay, Jay Jay, Shekema, Deliah Amelia, Chondra, Dawn, Michelle, Karen, Keitha, Amy, Allysia, Tamara, Kenisha, Kiana, Ladania, Leana, Ladia, Dahlia, Delani, Junior, Hannis, Jaylanie, Orden, Christopher, Avery, Keith, BJ, J’Quan, Kenya, Dale, Erin, D’Jante, Shamaul, Jamihl, Naheem and Robert.
She is also survived by 41 great-grandchildren; sisters: Francella and Cynthia Nurse, and Ruth Nathaniel; brothers: Winston and Wallace Nurse; 11 nieces; 17 nephews; daughters-in-law: Gloria, Eunice and Nalda; sons-in-law: Padget Green, Roy Weekes, Athlyn Merrick and Etienne Charlery; adopted daughter, Paulette Mason; special cousins: Lucia Williams and family; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, at the James Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
A second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 20, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Chistiansted. Interment will be at Christiansted Cemetery.
