Suspect Arrested Following Shooting

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested 41-year-old Michael Davis after he was identified by police as the suspect who shot a male victim Friday near the Frydenhoj ballpark.

Davis was charged with first degree assault, according to the V.I. Police Department.

According to the report, police were notified of the incident at about 11:45 a.m. Friday. Officers said the male victim had been sitting on a wall near the ball park when two men carrying handguns approached him and began firing their weapons at him, striking him in the upper left chest area.

The man, whose name was not released by the VIPD, was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injury.

The suspect, Michael Davis, was arrested at about 4 p.m. the same day and held on $100,000 bail. He was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.

Detectives said the case is still being investigated and police are searching for a second suspect.
