Theodore Glasford Appointed Interim Chief of Security for St. Thomas Campus UVI Vice President for Administration and Finance/CFO Shirley Lake-King has announced that Theodore Glasford has been appointed Interim Chief of Security for the St. Thomas campus effective July 1, 2014. Glasford joined the University in 2005 as a Security Officer I and has been promoted several times since. He has also served as Acting Chief of Security on numerous occasions, including since the departure of the former Chief of Security in August 2013.
ITS Posts Quarterly Newsletter UVI’s Information and Technology Services component has posted its latest quarterly newsletter. The Caribbean Writer Issues Call for Submissions for Volume 29 The Caribbean Writer – the University of the Virgin Islands’ international, refereed, literary journal with a Caribbean focus – is announcing a submission call for its 29th edition. Issues unique to the Caribbean should be central to the work, or the work should reflect a Caribbean heritage, experience, or perspective. The submission deadline is Dec. 30. Reichhold Center to Host Songwriters Show ‘Hitmakers & Rum Chasers’ on July 19 UVI’s Reichhold Center for the Arts will host the third installment of the seasonal songwriters series “Hit Makers & Rum Chasers” in a 7:30 p.m. show on Saturday, July 19. The series is a production of Nashville-based 343 Agency, a tour promotion and event marketing company. The St. Thomas program will feature modern country songwriters Marti Frederiksen, Paul Jenkins and Danny Myrick.
Frederiksen, an award winning songwriter and producer, has worked with Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crowe, Pink and Eminem. His hits include Ozzy Osbourne’s “Dreamer,” “Love Remains the Same” by Gavin Rossdale, Carrie Underwood’s “Undo It” and “Mama’s Song,” and “Crawling Back to You” by Daughtry. Jenkins is a Grammy nominated songwriter, whose compositions have sold in excess of 10 million copies. His songwriting credits include Blake Shelton’s “Over,” Thompson Square’s “If I Didn’t Have You,” and Jason Aldean’s smash hit “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” a duet with Kelly Clarkson. Myrick’s songs have been recorded by artists Gloriana, Big and Rich, Montgomery Gentry and Joe Cocker. His hits include Craig Morgan’s “International Harvester,” and 2009s most played country song, “She’s Country,” by Jason Aldean. In 2011 and 2012, Myrick enjoyed radio success with Chris Cagle’s “I Got My Country On,” and Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah." More on the artists is available online at http://www.343agency.com/.

UVI Accepting Applications for Admissions to 2014 Fall Semester Applications for admissions to the University of the Virgin Islands for the 2014 Fall Semester are being accepted for the following groups: freshman admission; transfer admission; graduate admission for the following programs – Master of Arts in Education, Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Psychology, Master of Mathematics for Secondary School Teachers, Master of Public Administration; readmission; and re-matriculation.

UVI Early Registration for Fall Semester Returning Students Now Available The University of the Virgin Islands is now offering early registration for the fall semester for returning students. Students are advised to register early for their graduation requirements. Fall classes will begin on August 25, 2014 and continue until Dec. 4 with final exams occurring between Dec. 8 and 12, 2014.
