Veteran Peter Gregory Thurland Jr. of Estate La Grande Princesse died on Aug. 1. He was 90 years old.
He is survived his daughters: Denise Jefferson, Michelle Thurland-Martinez and Angeli Ferdschneider; sons: Pierre Thurland, Jeán Andre Thurland and Michael Thurland; grandchildren: Tiffany Liddie, Edith Ferdschneider, Leah Ferdschneider, Peter Martinez, Marcus Thurland, Cristina Thurland, Akayla Thurland and Kayin Thurland; brother, Will Thurland; nieces: Sandra Sheen, Amelia Sheen, Karen Thurland, Anne Thurland and Johanna Ireland; nephews: Gotfred Thurland Sr., George Thurland, Niels Thurland, Gregory Sheen, Nicholas Sheen and Joseph Sheen; and daughters-in-law: Elizabeth Thurland and Jamelia Thurland.
He is also survived by sons-in-law: Keith Jefferson, Jose Raphael Martinez and Mark Ferdschneider; sisters-in-law: Modesta Thurland, Carolyn Heywood, Lena Moorehead, Maria VanPutten, Gloria Burton, Aurea Stamatakis and Carmen Gomez; godchildren to numerous to mention; special friends: Post 85 American Legion and the Holy Cross Catholic Church family; cousins and other relatives: the Simmonds, Rissing, Hansen, Thompson, Howell, Harvey, Petersen, Heywood and Gomez families; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Post 85 American Legion Hall, Christiansted. It will be followed by a viewing at 10 a.m. and then a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery, Veterans Section.
