Police Probe Three Unrelated Shootings

Police on St. Thomas are investigating three separate non-fatal shootings that occurred recently. The cases remain open and under investigation, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The police announcement did not identify the victims, pursuant not to a policy of not naming victims of non-fatal shootings.

At about 8:30 a.m. Saturday two victims, age 26 and 37 years old, told police they were on the porch of a residence in Sugar Estate when a man wearing dark clothing, with a bandana over his face, began firing shots at them. As they ran into the house, one victim was shot in his left foot and the other victim was shot in his right leg, police said.

At about 3:30 p.m. the same day, police were notified of another shooting, The victim told them he was driving on Bovoni Road when someone in another vehicle began firing at him.

The victim drove to the Bovoni housing community road and turned there to get help and the vehicle did not follow him into that community, police said.

The 27-year-old victim had been grazed in his left shoulder and right arm. The victim said he was unable to give a description of the vehicle or any occupants.

And on Friday, police made contact with another shooting victim who said he had been shot near the Anna’s Retreat basketball court. The 32-year-old victim told police he had been in the area just before 4 p.m. when he heard gunshots and saw a vehicle passing by.

The victim was grazed in his stomach and taken to the hospital by private vehicle. The victim could not provide police any description of the vehicle or occupants.

All victims were treated for their injuries at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.
