Armed Men Rob Bank of St. Croix

Police are seeking at least two men who robbed the Bank of St. Croix at gunpoint Tuesday in Gallows Bay.

According to the V.I. Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at 10:44 a.m., when the 911 dispatch center received a call. Within seconds several police unit were in the area, the police news release said.

Witnesses told police a grey Chevy Equinox parked in front of the bank, two men got out of the vehicle and went into the bank. Once inside they displayed handguns and demanded money.

One suspect stood by the door and the second suspect went behind the counter and ordered tellers to put money into a bag. The suspects then left the bank, got back into the vehicle and left the area, traveling east.

No one was injured and no shots were fired, police said.

Officers found the vehicle in a parking lot behind a nearby building minutes later.

Witnesses said one suspect was taller than 6 feet. He wore a camouflage jacket with a hood and camouflage pants. The second suspect was about 5 feet, 5 inches tall. He was wearing khaki pants and a black hoodie with multicolored sneakers. Both suspects carried handguns, wore masks over their faces, had hoods on their heads and appeared to have their hair in dreadlocks.

Police asked anyone with information on the case to call detectives at 1-340-712-6031 or 1-340-712-6024. They can also call the 911 emergency dispatcher or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
