We announce the passing of Marilyn A. Georges, better known "Girlie," who died on Dec. 2 in Florida. She was 72 years old.
She is survived by her children: Dale Christian, Capt. Roland Fahie Sr. MSC (U.S. Navy), Mercedes Phipps, Lebourne Dowe HMC (FMF), Ronald Claxton (U.S. Navy, Ret.), ATI (AW/SW) Troy Claxton Sr. (U.S. Navy, Ret.) and Craig Claxton Sr.; daughters-in-law: Cathilene Fahie, Shahla Dowe and Jodi Claxton; and grandchildren: Roland II and Kayla Fahie, Joedine Hose, Kyle Malone, GSMFN Koiya Davis USN, K’Shon Anthony, Shamir, Lesha, Shaleigh, Leokei, Shalani and Lelah Dowe, Troy Jr., Alivia, Deanna and Taylor Claxton, LCPL Craig Claxton Jr. (USMC), Lah’Craisha and A’Kym Claxton, Magonda Brown; nine great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by brothers: Rudolph Slack, Randolph Christian, Alberic, Paul, Jerome and Ernest Georges; sisters: Cecelia Brunn (deceased), Sharon Jennings (deceased), Yvonne Phillips, Eva Lewis, Marian Christian and Evis Lake; nieces: Ingrid Burton, Linda Brunn, Denise Joseph, Denise Slack-Tilghman, LaVerne Slack, Charmaine Slack Esq., Desiree Smith, Stephanie Best, Coleen Hendricks, Charlene Austin, Denise Magras-Ward, Diane Lowe and Urisha Merchant; nephews: Adrian O’Neal, Al (deceased), Allen, Roy, Dean, Rudolph Brunn, Derick Greaves, Darrell and Darren Smith, Steve Sylvester, Dwayne Farrington, Evan Lake, Jean Magras, Leroy Somersall and Steve Julius.
There will be a viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, in the Celestial Chapel at Hurley-Davis Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at All Saints Cathedral. Interment will follow at Eastern Cemetery.
