A man was shot and killed Monday evening at the Tutu High Rise apartments, the V.I. Police Department reported.

It was the third homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the fourth in the territory.

Officers responded to the site at 6:13 p.m. after 911 dispatchers received a report of shots fired. Arriving at the scene, they found the body of a man who had been shot and killed near Building 21.

Police were still inspecting the scene Monday night and did not release the name of the victim or any details of the incident.

Detectives from the Major Crimes unit are investigating.
