CEREMONY CELEBRATES MALCOLM X STAMP

A small group gathered Sunday at Emancipation Garden to acknowledge Black History Month and to honor Malcolm X, whose fight against racial injustice was recently commemorated by the issuance of a 33-cent postage stamp.
The ceremony was organized by the postal service to unveil the new Malcolm X stamp, according to Monday's Daily News.
Several senators and community leaders spoke about the significance of the stamp and the series that honors other African-Americans.
The Echo People, featuring Eddie Bruce, played “Sounds of the Drum.”
Some attendees expressed dismay at the low turnout, among them Sen. Donald “Ducks” Cole and Sen. Adelbert M. “Bert” Bryan, the Daily News reported. Cole said it was particularly disappointing since St. Thomas is a predominantly black community.
