Three minors were transported to the Roy L. Schneider Hospital for treatment of injuries Sunday afternoon after the vehicle in which they were riding spun out of control and careered over an embankment on Crown Mountain Road.
The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. The driver was reported to have told police at the scene that he lost control after swerving to avoid hitting a pedestrian. The vehicle "apparently plummeted over the edge of the road, went down the hillside and onto a descending driveway," an observer at the accident scene said.
Police officers and Assistant Police Commissioner Bruce Hamlin re-routed traffic as ambulance personnel treated the injured and a wrecker using a cable and tow hook pulled the wrecked vehicle back up to the road.
There was no word on whether charges were or would be filed in the case.
