March 23, 2002 – V.I. National Park has two new managers. Stephen Clark, who has been at the park since August 2000, is now the park's chief ranger. John Javor, a 28-year National Park Service veteran, was named chief of maintenance.
Clark, who joined the National Park Service in 1986, previously worked at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation area in Washington. He also worked at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Shenandoah National Park, Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, and Johnstown Flood National Memorial.
He is a 1984 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.
Superintendent John King said in a news release that Clark has developed a comprehensive understanding of issues and challenges facing the park.
"And he has earned a reputation as a level-headed and fair park ranger," King said.
He is here with his wife and three children.
Javor has held a wide variety jobs in the National Park Service's maintenance divisions. This is fourth post as manager. He started his career at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and has worked at Curricanti National Recreation Area, Dry Tortugas National Pak, Lincoln Boyhood National Historic Site, Perry's Victory International Peace Memorial, and Amistad National Recreation Area.
