MOTHER'S DAY 2-MILE FUN RUN RESULTS

May 13, 2002 – The St. Thomas Association of Roadrunners (STAR) held the annual Mother's Day 2-Mile Fun Run at Magens Bay Sunday morning. Twenty-three participants completed the run, with Michael Hughes winning the men's race in a time of 12:04. David Jones, back from the St. Croix Half-Ironman Triathlon last weekend where he was the first Virgin Islands finisher, was second in 12:30. Third palace went to Charlie Engeman in a time of 14:54.
In the women's category first place went to Kim Fitzpatrick in 13:02. Kim also completed the Triathlon in St. Croix. Second place was Grace Tuma in 13:51 and third place went to Kim Engeman in 13:54.
Among the young people who competed, 12 year-old Haydn Mitchell ran an excellent 15:55, with Johnny Lenahan and Ernie Evans taking second and third places in 19:11 and 19:55 respectively.
All the ladies were presented with carnations and the winners received gifts donated by Silk Greenery at Fort Mylner.
STAR's next event will be the Father's Day 2-miler on June 16th. The run will begin at the Frenchtown Ballpark at 7:30 a.m., with registration starting at 7 a.m.
