Small Business Seminar on St. Thomas
UVI's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on St. Thomas is offering a seminar titled "Writing A Winning Business Plan (Part II)" at its Nisky Center offices at 6 p.m. Monday, May 13. For information call 776-3206.
Business After Hours Set on St. Croix
The SBDC's final event in observance of National Small Business Week will be a Business After Hours awards ceremony held in conjunction with the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 16. The session begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Pentheny Building, 1138 King Street, Christiansted.
TV2 Documentary to Feature UVI Parade Troupe
UVI Carnival committee chairwoman Cherie Wheatley has announced that a 30-minute television documentary featuring UVI's award winning 2002 Carnival troupe will be broadcast on Cable TV2 on Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m.
The program, entitled "The Making of A Carnival Troupe," is part of TV2's "How To" series hosted by Josie Lindquist and produced by Patreece deChabert. It features interviews with troupe members, film from the UVI Mas Camp as preparations were underway, and footage from the parade itself.
UVI's entries won second place in the "Troupe 50-to-100" category and second place in the "floats" division. The program will be aired again on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, at 5:30 p.m.
Annual Giving Fund Committee To Meet
A UVI Annual Giving Fund Committee meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15. The meeting will be teleconferenced between the second floor conference room in UVI's St. Thomas Library and the second floor conference room in the Great House on the St. Croix campus. STARfest 8 Continues Next Weekend
STARfest8 opened this past weekend to rave reviews. The show includes some of the region's finest local talent. It continues this coming Sunday and Monday, May 19 and 20. Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets are still available from the UVI Bookstore and the Reichhold Box Office on St. Thomas Campus. For other ticket outlets and details call 693-1559.
Scholarship Bottle Cap Collection Continues
UVI students, faculty, staff and friends are reminded to continue collecting bottle caps from Coca-Cola products throughout the month of May as part of the Tom Joyner Foundation Drive to provide scholarship funds for UVI students. Look for deposit barrels on both campuses and at a variety of businesses throughout the Virgin Islands.
