Sept. 10, 2003 — The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued Sept. 8 has these announcements:
UVI Plans Second Anniversary Forum on the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks
UVI will conduct a free public forum on the second anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. The forum title is "The Day the World Changed: 9/11 in Perspective.
A special guest speaker at the forum will be V.I. Police Commissioner Elton
Lewis. Lewis attended a conference of regional leaders in Barbados last week which focused on the Caribbean response to dealing with terrorism. He is expected to share information garnered at that conference.
Other speakers will be Dr. Malik Sekou, addressing the attacks' political impact; Dr. Patricia Rhymer Todman, speaking on the socio-psychological impact; and Dr. Simon Jones Hendrickson, addressing the economic impact.
The forum will be videoconferenced between Chase Auditorium (Business Education building room 110) on the St. Thomas campus and the Theater (Evans Center room 401) on the St. Croix campus.
Remarkable Big Trees Display Continues Through Sept. 12
An exhibition of 30 photographs of remarkable big trees of the U.S. Virgin Islands — organized by UVI Professor Dr. Robert Nicholls — is on display through Friday, Sept. 12, at the V.I. Cultural Heritage Institute, located at 5-6 Kongens Gade (Education Street) in Charlotte Amalie. Institute hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. SBDC Sets "Benefits of Insurance" Seminar Sept. 12 on St. Croix
The UVI Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in collaboration with the Ambassador Financial Group Inc., will conduct an insurance seminar entitled "The Benefits of Having Insurance: Business, Life, Health and Disability" from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the SBDC Training Center located in the Sunshine Mall lower level, St. Croix. Open House, Tour of UVI's Sheep Research Facility Scheduled Sept. 25
UVI's Animal Science Program will conduct an open house at the Agricultural Experiment Station on St. Croix from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25. Included will be a tour of the sheep research facility, viewing of the hair sheep flock, reviews of current animal research and the results of student projects.
