Dear Source,
This petition has been a long time coming. I remember the last time we, Crucians, addressed this issue; Senator Ruby Rouse's vote killed our efforts. For years St. Croix has been the step child; it is time it stopped.
St. Croix citizens have tried to work as one with St. Thomas/St. John only to have them sow their selfishness again and again. Advertisements to visit the Virgin Islands regularly promote St.Thomas over St. Croix. An attempt to have an international airport on St.Croix was shot down only to waste money on expanding the airport in St.Thomas.
I hope the petition is successful. St Croix deserves the opportunity to control its own destiny.
