Best Spellers in Territory to Compete in Christiansted

Mar 16, 2005 – The Virgin Islands' top 12 spellers, including St. Croix champion Lauren Lewis of Good Hope School and St. Thomas/St. John champion Lindeon Davis of Addelita Cancryn Junior High, were to compete in the 2005 Territorial Spelling Bee March 23 at 10 a.m. at Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School in Christiansted, St. Croix.
Other St. Croix district competitors are Keywan Johnson of Elena L.Christian Junior High; Kelsey Butler, Church of God Holiness Academy; Arianne Walcott, St. Mary's School; Isamail Yusuf of Iqra Academy and Rose Padilla of Manor School.
St. Thomas/St. John spellers are Davis; Devin Braun, St. John School on Gift Hill; Danielle Aguilar, Antilles; Koi Rivera, Moravian; Oshana Michelle, Seventh Day Adventist and Cleon Hendricks, Jr. of the New Testament Academy.
The Territorial Spelling Bee is sponsored by the Curriculum, Assessment and
Technology division of the Department of Education and the Virgin Islands Daily News.
Spelling bees are coordinated by Charlene Matthew in the St. Croix district, and Mary Harley in the St. Thomas/St. John district.
