Sept. 22, 2005 – After several meetings with John H. Woodson Junior High School administration, St. Croix Federation of Teachers president Tyrone Molyneaux, teacher-representative Gregory Johnson and PTA (Parent Teacher Association) president Andrea McIntosh, St. Croix Superintendent of Schools Terrence T. Joseph, Tuesday announced that classes for John H. Woodson Junior High students will continue at the Elena Christian Junior High School site in La Grande Princesse beginning on Monday, Sept. 26. A schedule for Woodson's make up days is forthcoming, according to a press release from the superintendent's office.
"We have decided the best way to address the present crisis with John H. Woodson Junior High School is to implement a double session with the Elena Christian Junior High School," Superintendent Joseph said.
Both schools will observe a seven period school day, including lunch, with each period lasting 45 minutes and a lunch break for 30 minutes. Elena Christian Junior High students will report at 7 a.m. and will be dismissed at 12:22 p.m. Bus transportation for the Elena Christian students will be available at 6:30 a.m. for pickup and transport to the school.
Woodson's students will begin classes at noon and end at 5:15 p.m. Buses for John H. Woodson Junior High students will depart at 11:30 a.m. for transport to school servicing students from the following areas: Estate Glynn – Estate Glynn Bus Stop; Estate Mon Bijou – Estate Mon Bijou Bus Stop; Estate Glynn/ Frangipani – Intersection of Frangipani; Candido Guadeloupe – Candido Guadeloupe Bus Stop; Estate Coble/ Friedensberg Project – Coble Bus Stop; and Estate Calquohoun – Calquohoun Bus Stop. All other Woodson students will board school buses at their regular bus stops. School buses will depart the school's campus at 5:15 p.m.
